We are looking for a dedicated and professional HSE OFFICER who has the following skills and experience.

HSE OFFICER

Omaruru, Namibia

The HSE OFFICER will be working as part of the Laboratory team, and responsible for overall Health, Safety & Environment-related duties, ensuring that operations are done in accordance with safety regulations and norms at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow all HSE protocols, ensure proper housekeeping and handling of all chemicals and hazardous substances.

Conduct on-site investigations of accidents.

Train, advise, and support management, supervisors, and employees regarding environmental, health, and safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations, in accordance with Capital’s policies and regulatory requirements, and standard operating procedures.

Conduct regular inspections for fire, safety, and environmental equipment, facilities, and buildings and ensure that all inspections are carried out and followed up on any deficiencies and compliance with established regulations, policies, and standards and recommend remedial action as appropriate.

Respond to all unsafe conditions like hazard reports, and emergency cases.

Follow up on all medical cases and arrange the booking for the patients in hospitals or clinics.

Conduct Job Safety Analyses, competency-based assessments, and Continuous Risk Assessments to create Safe Work Procedures and Safe Operating Procedures.

Conduct safety meetings.

Communicate with the client on all related safety issues (Client Morning Meetings)

Ensure and maintain the safety system in compliance and alignment with Isometrics.

Develop and maintain detailed manual and or automated records, including locations and inspections of potentially hazardous areas.

Serve as Hazardous Waste Disposal Officer for the site inspects, evaluates, and oversees the maintenance and disposition of all hazardous materials stored on site

Monitor usage of hazardous materials and make recommendations as appropriate.

Keep up-to-date regulations changes, and changes to fire/safety codes and manuals; maintains knowledge of current and emerging issues and trends.

Book PCR tests when needed.

Follow open corrective actions till closure.

Track the hazards reported, follow the status for each hazard, record them at the hazard register and follow up till closure.

Collect all equipment prestart papers, check for abnormal defects, count the numbers, and add to the prestart count sheet.

Provide safety induction to the new employees and visitors.

Inspect all emergency equipment at the laboratory.

Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Perform other duties as required by management.

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge & Skills Required

Able to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask

Detail orientated and ability to work very well under pressure.

Excellent English both written and verbal

Occupational Health and Safety Management system (OHSMS)

Environmental Management System (EMS)

Training & Education Required

OSHA Trainings-NOSCH I & NOSCH II

Introduction and implementation of ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 14001:2015

Integrated Management system IMS-ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001

Internal Audit Training

Risk Assessment Training

Bachelor’s degree in related discipline from an accredited institution.

Awareness and Implementation of Policies and Standard Operating Procedures

Experience Required

3-5 years’ experience in mining assay laboratory.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience working in multinational and culturally diverse environments

Physical Requirements

Must be fit and able to perform the inherent requirements of the job
